Trish Gordon of the Edgefield County Voter Registration Office said the last day citizens can register to vote is October 7, 2006. Ms. Gordon said the Voter Registration Office would open on that Saturday to allow last minute voters the opportunity to register. The Voter Registration Office, located in the basement of the Edgefield County Courthouse, can be accessed from the lower doors of the Courthouse on the Jeter Street. The office will be open Saturday, October 7 from 9:00 am until 12:00 noon. Ms. Gordon also wanted to let voters know of five Amendments to the South Carolina Constitution, including one that makes marriage available only to couples consisting of a male and a female.
