Historic transport delayed a week

web posted September 29, 2009
COUNTY – The massive generator’s scheduled arrival in the Johnston area has been delayed for at least a week. Pete Poore, Communications Director for the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT), said Monday that the transport is currently parked on Highway 118 in Aiken County. “It won’t be moving again until October 6,” Mr. Poore said.

The crews are making repairs and awaiting another permit to be approved. “Everywhere they go they have to get permits,” Mr Poore said adding that routes are also constantly under review and subject to change.

Due to those reasons Mr. Poore would not confirm the routes the transport would be taking. The route released to date for Edgefield County is for the crews to come into the County on Highway 191 and park near the intersection of Highways 121 and 191. “I’m sure the information you have is correct,” Mr. Poore said, “but at this time I will only comment on where it is, not where it is going.”

EdgefieldDaily.com will continue to follow the transport and provide additional updates as they become available.
