  Three Vehicle Thefts Reported over Weekend web posted October 9, 2012 COUNTY – Stolen vehicles seemed to be a hot item this past weekend with a collectable Mercedes Benz among three vehicles stolen between Friday and Sunday. The Benz was the first to be reported stolen on Friday afternoon by a Merriwether man on Stephens Road. The Stephens Road said the collectable 1979 Mercedes Benz 450SL, blue over white convertible, was taken from his driveway. The South Carolina tag number is 8649 EP with a VIN number of 10704412051170. It was valued and insured for $18,000. The owner told the deputy he still had all keys to the car. An Edgefield man called police after taking his step-daughter to a residence on Edisto Street in Johnston around 9 pm Saturday to pick up a few items of clothing from the home. The two went inside for a short period of time but left he car running in the driveway. Within the three minutes they were inside, someone jumped into the green 1995 Mercury Cougar RX7 and fled the scene. The car bears a South Carolina tag of IJE 834. The car was valued at $3,000. Sunday evening a Woodyard Road man call to report coming home form being out of town and finding his son's red and white 2004 Honda XR80 4-wheeler from the property.
