Gas under $2.00 a gallon?

Edgefielddaily.com
web posted October 31, 2005

COUNTY – Gas under $2.00 a gallon? Yes, that is what many retailers and suppliers are telling us will be a reality in the next week or two, maybe sooner.

Due to an expanding supply and a considerable drop in demand gas prices will continue to fall over the next few weeks. How low will prices go? That is something no one was able to tell us though some did speak of prices going as low as $1.65, or lower. To be fair, these are the same people who told us that prices could surge to $4.00 during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

One thing is for certain, the general public is enjoying the recent drop in prices. The cost of filling the tank has dropped one third since a month ago and that is good news for those looking to start preparing for Christmas shopping.

One tip was passed on to help lower prices quicker, quit filling up. Sources stated that as gas sales decline, so will the prices as retailers seek to draw business by lowering their prices. We are not so sure that position is viable, but one thing is for certain, when drivers swarmed local gas stations prices rose as much as seventy cents in a matter of hours.

Prices have already been seen nearing the $2.00 mark on Sunday as some stations posted prices of $2.09 and lower. A welcomed sight.
