Christmas wrecks keep deputies busy
web
posted December 25, 2007
COUNTY – Edgefield County Deputies were
busy Christmas night as two wrecks were reported between just before 7
pm and just after 8 pm. The first crash involved two vehicles at the
intersection of Currytown Road and Martintown Road, and the second
found the driver running from the scene just of Turkey Creek Road near
Highway 283.
There were no injuries in the Currytown crash and the scene was cleared
quickly.
However, the crash on Turkey Creek found the driver overturning the
vehicle and then fleeing the scene on foot, according to a witness. The
driver, alleged to be a white male in his 20’s from McCormick County,
was attempting to evade authorities on the scene.
The driver was injured in the crash and Edgefield
County EMS personnel were dispatched to the scene, however, the driver
was unable to be located at the time of this report. Alcohol is
suspected
to be a factor in the crash.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
Edgefield County Deputies were patrolling the area in search of the
driver at press time.
