On
the beat; fires, truck stuck under overpass, and a stolen car
web posted December 29, 2005 COUNTY – Edgefield Firemen were called to a fire on Country Club Road just before Pine Ridge Country Club to put out a front-end loader that caught fire around 10:00 am. The fire was extinguished and firemen were returning to the station in about 45 minutes. Johnston Fire crews were called to a fire on Addison Street around 11:45 am. The call was a brush fire and firemen put the flames out in short order. Edgefield Police were alerted around 6:25 pm that a tractor trailer had become lodged under the old trestle on Highway 25 that now acts as a walking path. Traffic was disrupted until the truck was dislodged about fifteen minutes later. It was unclear if the driver was sited. Around 8:45 a Merriwether resident reported a 1991 silver Mustang stolen in the Five Notch Road area. No further updates were available in the theft and no tag number was given. For
