Did You Ever Imagine?
Rev. Skip Myers
EdgefieldDaily.com contributing columnist
web posted December 8, 2006
It’s only eighteen days until your birthday,
Did you ever imagine we would celebrate it in this way?
Traffic is awful and people are rude,
Did you ever imagine this would be the mood?
We search for the right gift for those on our list,
Did you ever imagine the real gift would be missed?
There’s Frosty and Rudolf, and a man dressed in red,
Did you ever imagine these would replace the manger bed?
“Christmas” is replaced because it contains your name,
Did you ever imagine there would be such shame?
“No room in the inn” was heard long ago,
Did you ever imagine you would still hear us say no?
Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, jingle all the way,
Did you ever imagine this to be the song for your day?
God’s plan--a child, a manger, a cross, the empty tomb,
Did you ever imagine you would have so little room?
In my life, in theirs, in this special season,
Did you ever imagine we would miss the reason?
I want to keep Christmas true in my heart,
Did you ever imagine I would fail to do my part?
(Next week the Lord’s reply to our letter: “Did YOU Ever Imagine!”)
