![]() Bankcard theft costly to victim web posted January 5, 2007 EDGEFIELD – An Edgefield woman reported the theft of her bankcard after being contacted by the bank that her account was overdrawn in the amount of $1,010.49. The woman told the Sheriff’s Office she last remembered using the card at a gas station in Edgefield and a nearby Chinese restaurant on December 23, 2006. She cancelled the card on Wednesday but not before someone making off with an undisclosed amount of money. It was not revealed how much money the woman’s bank account contained prior to the charges being made. Edgefield County Sheriff’s Investigators are working the case and Chief Investigator Randy Doran said Thursday that investigators were collecting evidence from various locations in the county where the card was used. Video surveillance tapes at some locations where the card was used are being retrieved in an effort to identify a suspect. At least one location has been able to provide video of the person using the card. Investigator Doran said the woman did not know if she left the bankcard behind at one of the businesses or if it was stolen. She did not miss the card until being contacted by the bank. For
