Edgefield Police solve burglary in short fashion web posted January 16, 2007 EDGEFIELD – Edgefield Police responded to, and quickly solved, a first-degree burglary that occurred on the 90 block of Dogwood Lane. Just before midnight Sunday night the daughter of the home heard a noise in the bathroom of her mother’s bedroom. When one of the sisters went to investigate she opened the bathroom door a man was standing inside and he slammed the door and locked it. The young women heard glass breaking and called 911. Edgefield Police Officers arrived a short time later and spoke to the women and was given a description of the man and his clothing. A storm window was found pried open and the glass was found shattered below the window. Officer’s patrolled the area trying to find the suspect without success. A short time later information was provided to police that led one of the Edgefield Police Officers and an Edgefield County Deputy to a home on the 200 block of Walker Road in the county. When they knocked on the door the man opened the door wearing clothing matching the suspect in the burglary. When asked where he had been in the previous hours he stated he arrived home around 10pm Sunday night. The Edgefield Officer stated there had been a home broken into in Edgefield and asked the man where he had been previously. He stated he had been next door to the home in burglarized. The Deputy asked how he knew where the crime had been committed and he stuttered claiming the other officer said where it was, which he had not. At that time Kenneth Demetrius Rowe, 19, of the 200 block of Walker Road was taken into custody and transported back to the scene where the young women positively identified him as the intruder. Rowe was being held at the Edgefield County Detention Center on a custody order awaiting first-degree burglary charges in connection to the case on Monday. No items were listed as stolen and no dollar amount of damage to the home were available. For
