EDGEFIELD – A local shopper at the Dollar General Store in Edgefield had rather shaking moment after arriving and parking in the parking lot. A tractor-trailer truck with a 53-foot trailer backed right into her car shortly after parking.

The Trenton woman said she stopped in just for a quick trip inside and saw the truck in the parking lot in front of the store so she parked on the outermost area. She and the truck driver both stated the truck driver got and walked around before getting back in his truck to begin back up. “I looked,” the driver of the truck said without giving his name, “I just didn’t see her.”

The Trenton woman said the next thing she knew the back of the truck came smashing into her car. “At first I thought it was just the window, but then I realized he hit the car,” she said.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol had to be notified since the incident involved a tractor-trailer truck as well as South Carolina Department of Transportation.
