web posted January 24, 2006 EDGEFIELD – The shooting incident that was reported in Edgefield Saturday is still under investigation by authorities. However, more information has been released in the matter. According to police reports, a 19 year old Edgefield woman was walking down Dogwood Drive when she felt a “stinging feeling” in her right hand. When she looked down, she saw that she had been shot. Differing reports have been given as to how the woman arrived at the Edgefield County Hospital. Once she arrived, police were notified and the investigation began. According to witnesses, there was a black car with tinted windows driving up and down the road. Another witness claimed a person in the car had a gun and accidentally shot the young woman. A suspect has been identified and the matter is still under investigation. Contact with the sunject has not been made at this writing according to information obtained. Charges could be pending the outcome of the investigation. The woman was released from the hospital after treatment of a gunshot wound to the right hand a source stated.
