Edgefield Police Make Arrest in Stolen Car Case

web posted January 24, 2012

EDGEFIELD – A Car stolen on January 14 was found two days later while an Edgefield Police Officer was on routine patrol and spotted the car parked in the woods behind a Rosa Hill Street home. While investigating the home was found to have been struck by the car causing $5,000 in damage to the home's foundation. Fingerprints retrieved from the car lead to an arrest this weekend.

Officers went to the home of 17-year-old Jyneel Deontai McDuffie on Gary Street just before 10 pm Sunday and had his mother have him come to speak with the officers. According to an arrest report, McDuffie attempted to pull away from officers and was advised not to resist or he would be charged with resisting arrest. McDuffie then complied and allowed the officers to place the handcuff on him.

He was transported to the Edgefield County Detention Center and booked on warrants for grand larceny and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage.
