"Barefoot in the Park" Coming to Edgefield
web posted January 24, 2012
EDGEFIELD – One of Neil Simon's best loved
romantic comedies is coming to Edgefield. The Edgefield County Theatre
Company will present “Barefoot In The Park” as the third offering of
its 2011-2012 season. The performance dates are Feb. 17-19 and Feb.
24-25 at the William Miller Bouknight Theatre, 405 Main Street,
Edgefield.
For tickets, call 803-637-3833.
The Tony-nominated comedy, first produced in 1963, follows the lives of
two newlyweds living in a tiny apartment in New York City's Greenwich
Village. A straight-laced, calm and predictable young attorney and his
free-spirited wife encounter clingy relatives, nosy neighbors and a
small handful of quirky visitors to their one-room love nest and in the
process, seek to find a deeper appreciation for each other's individual
personalities.
The Edgefield cast includes Melanie Giovino of Augusta and Joe Woodward
of Aiken in the title roles, with supporting cast members Ruth Bledsoe
of Johnston, Sam Crouch of Edgefield, Evan Jarvis and John Gerrard of
Edgefield in supporting roles. The production is directed by John Lewis
of Aiken, who has directed several productions of the Aiken Community
Playhouse.
