Electronics, Gun Stolen in Edgefield Burglary

web posted February 4, 2014

EDGEFIELD A couple arriving at a weekend home on the 1100 block of Highway 25 north called the Edgefield County Sheriff's Office after finding the front door kicked in and property missing Friday afternoon. After an investigator arrived it was discovered that a shed on the property had also been burglarized.

The owners said the home is a weekend home and the last time they had been there was around January 18, and everything was in order.

Once inside the home the owners reported a 21 inch Vizio flat screen TV, a DVD player and an older model .22 caliber pump rifle missing with a total value of just under $1,000. The scene was processed for evidence.

During the investigation the owner stated there was a shed down by the pond that is also located on the property. He and the investigator checked the building and the door had also been kicked in. The owner reported at least seven rod and reel combinations and two tackle boxes filled with lures and equipment missing.

Total damages and stolen property was listed at over $2,000, according to an investigator's report.
