Town Square one step closer to final plan on landscaping
web
posted February 15, 2008
EDGEFIELD – The Town
of Edgefield is one
step closer to a plan to re-landscape the town square with the Advisory
Committee opening the proposals and bids on Wednesday. With prices
ranging between $23,000 to almost $35,000 Mayor Ken Durham said he had
to do a little work to get an “apples to apples” comparison.
Due to some of the proposals having more trees, pavers, and other items
listed Mayor Durham said he subtracted the cost of the extra items so
the committee had a clearer comparison. Even by subtracting out the
extra Items, Rock Creek Landscaping had the lowest bid at just over
$23,000.
Mayor Durham said he
and the advisory committee would be meeting with
agents from the Clemson Extension Office next week to discuss what type
of plants and trees would be best and when is the best time to do the
planting.
“Nothing is final yet,” Mayor Durham said. Even after the next meeting
the entire town council has the final say on the matter. The date for
the next meeting has not been designated.
Mayor Durham said he would like to have the public’s input on the plan
before it is finalized.
