Identity of fatality victim released
web
posted February 18, 2010
EDGEFIELD – The man killed after being
struck by a car late Tuesday night on Long Cane Road has been
identified as 35-year-old Michael Anthony Butler, of Long Cane Road,
Johnston, Deputy Coroner David Burnett said Wednesday. An official
cause of death has not been released at this time, although Coroner
Thurmond Burnett said shortly after the incident he expects “multiple
body trauma”, to be the finding.
David Burnett said a ruling of, “accidental death due to injuries
received in a motor vehicle accident,” has been issued. No charges will
be filed against the 22-year-old Saluda woman driving the car that
struck Mr. Butler. The time of death has been placed at 11:45 pm,
Tuesday.
“We still don’t have the preliminary autopsy report back at this time,”
Mr. Burnett said. Toxicology reports will not be available for two or
three weeks.
The death
is the first on Edgefield County roads this year.
