Edgefield Baptist Association names Dr. Robert A. Williamson as Director of Missions

web posted February 20, 2009
EDGEFIELD – The Edgefield Baptist Association has called Dr. Robert A. Williamson, Jr. to serve as Director of Missions for the 20 churches that make up the association.  Rev. Robert T. Huffman, Chairman of the Search Team and Pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church stated that “Dr. Williamson is well qualified to serve as our Director of Missions.  With both a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and over 15 years of service as a senior pastor, he has the experience and skills that will benefit all our churches.”

A special called meeting of the association was held on Sunday, February 8th, at Little Stevens Creek Baptist Church to hear a message from Dr. Williamson and to vote on his call.  Dr. Jim Austin, Executive Director-Treasurer of the South Carolina Baptist Association, was in attendance at this milestone in the history of the Edgefield Baptist Association at one of the oldest churches in the association.

Dr. Williamson will be serving in a part-time capacity as he works with pastors and churches to provide assistance with pastoral ministry, administrative functions, leadership training, and mission emphasis in the association.  He stated that he “loves getting to know people and helping them to know and grow in the Lord…and is really looking forward to getting to know the people in Edgefield Baptist Association, as well as helping churches to reach out in ministry and missions.”

Serving on the Search Team along with Robert Huffman were Rev. Steve Cartin, Lynn Rearden, Jimmy Lisenby, and Jackie Ridings.
