Shrimp City Slim "Impromptu" CD Release Event Tonite

EDGEFIELD – One of the finest blues musicians in the South is making an impromptu stop in Edgefield on Friday night as part of a whirlwind tour of the Upstate. Charleston blues piano great Shrimp City Slim will host an impromptu CD Release Party at the Joanne T. Rainsford Discovery Center on Friday night, Feb. 22 beginning at 8 p.m. The event is designed to celebrate the release of his new CD, “Star Marina,” his ninth album released to date.
   
General admission tickets to the “Star Marina” CD Release Party will be $5 at the door. No tickets will be sold in advance. Seating will be cabaret-style.
    
Shrimp City Slim is a native of Chicago who has lived in Charleston since 1983. He has apprenticed with some of the finest blues musicians in the South, including “the
Blues Doctor” Drink Small, Lightnin' Bug Rhodes, Big Boy Henry and others. He is the founder of the Charleston Lowcountry Blues Festival, the Camden Blues Festival, the Pee Dee Blues Festival in Florence and the Greenwood Blues Cruise.
   
Shrimp City Slim is a frequent guest on the bills of blues festivals both in the U.S. and abroad. He recently completed a tour of Poland and Eastern Europe. As part of the Upstate tour, Shrimp City Slim will appear in Greenwood on Thursday night and at Coach T's Diner in Aiken on Saturday night, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
