Hospice Care of South Carolina Announces Winner of First Annual Sweet
Heart Contest
web
posted February 26, 2008
EDGEFIELD – Hospice Care of South Carolina
recently held their first annual “Sweet Heart” contest. The contest was
open to all who work in the healthcare field in Edgefield County.
Hospice Care of South Carolina appreciates the fact that the healthcare
field is increasing in excellence. New procedures and treatments are
enabling people to live longer and fuller lives.
However, we must not overlook those who provide the caring touch to
those who are ill. Hospice Care of South Carolina’s “Sweet Heart”
contest was directed to those who are in direct contact with patients
and who demonstrate Hospice Care of South Carolina’s seven covenants of
care that include character, caliber, community, compassion,
commitment, contribution, and choice.
While we commend all who are devoted to providing quality healthcare,
we at Hospice Care of South Carolina recognize a very special person
who exemplifies our covenants of care, the “Sweet Heart” winner, Ms.
Ruby Stevens.
Ms. Stevens, an employee of Edgefield County Hospital, was nominated by
several of her peers. Ms. Stevens’ fellow co-workers describe her as
one who provides for the emotional well being of her patients and
respects the patient’s dignity. She never complains about helping
others and often goes above and beyond the “call of duty”.
Several of Ms. Stevens’ co-workers stated that she was a joy to work
with and often goes the extra mile to assist patients and their
families.
Ms. Stevens was presented a gift basket filled with an assortment of
items by Hospice Care of South Carolina’s Community Relations Director,
Laurie Robinson. Robinson states, “All of the nominations were truly
awesome and it was very difficult for our team to choose a grand prize
winner. They are all winners to us. We are very fortunate to have such
caring and compassionate people taking care of all of us in our own
community.” Robinson presented each nominee a special gift from Hospice
Care of South Carolina.
Hospice Care of South Carolina is proud to be a part of the community
in which it serves through its local office. Hospice Care of South
Carolina has 26 offices throughout the state with each office hiring
local people to serve in their own community. The Edgefield County
office is located at 510 Augusta Road, Suite B in Edgefield, SC.
If you would like more information on services provided by Hospice Care
of South Carolina, or if you would like for a representative to speak
to a church or civic group, please contact Laurie Robinson, Community
Relations Director, at our local office at (803) 637-1901 or e-mail at
