Westside Man Charged in Molestation Investigation

web posted March 20, 2013

EDGEFIELD – A Westside man has been arrested and is currently being held without bond at the Edgefield County Detention Center. Leymond Wesley Snodgrass, 33, has been charged with criminal sexual conduct in the first degree with a victim being 11 years old or younger, according to booking records. He was taken into custody Monday night.

According to information gathered about the case, there were more than one attack over a period of time.

The Edgefield Police Department took the initial report and then turned the case over to the Edgefield County Sheriff's Office due to the location of the attacks. The Sheriff's Criminal Investigative Division took over the investigation resulting in the arrest.

Snodgrass is also charged with Disseminating harmful material or exhibiting harmful performance to minors. He was granted a $10,000 bond on that charge by Magistrate McLaurin, but remains jailed pending a Circuit Court bond hearing.

It is expected Snodgrass will be denied bond at the Circuit level as well. If convicted, he faces up to 30 years behind bars.
