Edgefield County DYB Celebrates Opening Day

web posted March 24, 2014

EDGEFIELD By the looks of the attendance, plenty of folks in Edgefield County were excited to see the start of a new Dixie Youth Baseball season. For the first time in several years the weather was perfect, allowing for all scheduled games to be played. With family and friends cheering them on, each team was introduced during the opening ceremonies, which marks the official kick off of the 2014 season.

Pastor Stacy Williams from Edgefield First Baptist Church delivered the opening prayer, which was followed by a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem by Davis Wash. Senator Shane Massey was joined by STHS varsity baseball coach, Chris Zylstra in throwing out the ceremonial first pitches and the season was then declared open.

Edgefield County will have a full schedule of games for T-Ball, Machine Pitch, Minor League and O Zone over the next several weeks.  The public is encouraged to come out, have a hotdog and watch some great youth baseball this summer.
