Ashcraft Makes it Official

web posted March 27, 2014

EDGEFIELD Edgefield County Council Dist. 2 Councilman Rodney Ashcraft has made his re-election bid official by filing his paperwork Tuesday afternoon. Ashcraft was first elected in 2008, defeating a six-year incumbent, and defended the seat from another challenger in 2010. He is serving his third term and will be seeking a fourth this November.

Ashcraft (R-Merriwether/Westside) is currently the Chairman of the Edgefield County Republican Party and belongs to a number of non-profit boards in the county. Ashcraft was a member of the Edgefield Alliance and served as Chairman of the Structure Committee.

He is married and has no children.

"I believe that Edgefield County needs to move aggressively into the twenty first century.  I will make every effort to move us positively in that direction," Ashcraft said. Keeping county government transparent and accessible to the people was, and remains, one of his main issues as a councilman. I believe that we have accomplished our goals of making the County Council Meetings a friendly environment for my fellow citizen to come and engage the Council with questions and comments."

As of the close of business Wednesday evening, no challenger has filed in the race.
