Three may be deported after arrests web posted March 30, 2007 EDGEFIELD – Three men arrested this week in Edgefield will be deported by federal officials as illegal aliens EdgefieldDaily.com learned Thursday. The men, Rony Adonay Urbina, 26, Virgilo Fortin, 30, and Alberto Delgado, 27 are said to be scheduled to be returned to Costa Rica. Federal officials were in Edgefield on Wednesday and a “system” to deal with the onslaught on illegal aliens has reportedly been worked out. The three men arrested this week were said to have previous arrests for assorted criminal offenses in Georgia and South Carolina. All three gave the same address on Washington Road in Augusta, Georgia as their address. In the past federal authorities would not come for one or two inmates, which seems to have changed according to information obtained Thursday. It was not defined whether or not a felony charge was still needed to involve federal authorities. Some law enforcement agencies will use the felony charge of forgery for falsified identification in order to trigger federal authorities into action one source stated. Previously, holding those arrested for deportation could last for several months before federal officials would respond. This places a huge burden on the county detention center. Sheriff Dobey cannot house the number of suspected illegal aliens in the county due to the limited jail space, at times reaching full capacity with normal operations. If the “system” that has been worked out functions as it is expected to in the most recent cases things could be much different. It will resolve how the issue of illegal aliens can be addressed at a local level. EdgefieldDaily.com will have a follow-up article on this continuing story. For
