Report of suspicious person leads to arrest
web
posted April 29, 2009
EDGEFIELD – Edgefield County Sheriff’s
Deputies and Edgefield Police responded to a call at the Pizza Hut on
Edgefield Road around 8:30 Tuesday night of a car entering the parking
lot at a high rate of speed and the driver jumping out and fleeing the
area on foot leaving the car running and locked in the parking lot. The
man seen running was described as a white male wearing a faded brown
pullover shirt and white shorts.
As Deputies and Edgefield Police converged on the area an Edgefield
Police Officer located Bradford Hardy, 39, who authorities say parked
at the Pizza Hut and ran to a nearby business to fight with 15-year-old
rival over the affections of a woman.
As the investigation continued it was discovered that Hardy’s drivers
license was suspended and the 1988 Acura he was driving had a tag
registered to a 1982 Dodge truck. Hardy was arrested and transported to
the Edgefield County Detention Center where jail officials said he was
booked on charges of driving under suspension, operating an uninsured
vehicle, improper vehicle license, and failure to register a vehicle.
The car was towed from the scene and no physical altercation took place.
Hardy was also found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest out
of Richmond County (Augusta Ga.) but they did not wish to extradite.
A bond hearing will most likely be held on Wednesday on the charges.
