Edgefield Couple holds “appreciation luncheon” for workers

web posted May 12, 2008
EDGEFIELD – On Friday Edgefield Town employees and Sheriff’s Deputies were treated to a home cooked “appreciation lunch” at the home of John and Susan Edwards on Mims Street in Edgefield. As the noon hour rolled around several workers began filling the couple’s front yard as John Edwards was busy on the porch cooking hamburgers and hot dogs.

“It was just something we wanted to do,” said Mr. Edwards as he flipped some of the burgers, “we have watched these men work and they always do it with a smile.” Mr. Edwards said that included the town employees, police officers, and Sheriff’s Deputies. “We just thought they would like to know what they do is appreciated,” adding that, “when they do something wrong it’s brought to everyone’s attention, but when they do something right nothing gets said.”

Among the many that turned out for the gathering were Edgefield Mayor Ken Durham and Sheriff Adell Dobey. Those that attended made sure they let John and Susan Edwards know they appreciated their graciousness as they thanked them personally.

Mr. Edwards (Left) humbly said that it was those he and his wife cooked for that deserved the accolades.
