web posted May 14, 2010
EDGEFIELD – A woman driving along Mims Street in Edgefield had a man in all black or dark clothing approach her car from the passenger side and strike the woman’s car as if he was struck by her. When the woman stopped to see if the pedestrian was okay, he attacked her and was reportedly wearing gloves. Limited information was available; however, the woman made her way to the Edgefield Police Department to report he crime. The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office and local agencies converged on the scene in an effort to apprehend the culprit.

The woman’s car was discovered on Mim’s Street and EMS was summoned to transport her to the Aiken Regional Medical center for treatment of injuries received in the altercation.

A perimeter was put in place by Edgefield Police aided by officers with the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office and Johnston Police which was activated within minutes of the reported crime.

The suspect is described as a “large” black male, around 6 feet tall wearing all black or dark clothing and gloves.

Details on the crime are limited at this report and Edgefield Daily will have more as information becomes available.
