  County Courthouse evacuated after false fire alarm web posted May 17, 2007 EDGEFIELD – County employees and the public were evacuated from the Edgefield County Courthouse Wednesday morning after a fire alarm brought Edgefield Police and Firemen as well as Sheriff’s Deputies to the courthouse to evacuate the building around 9 am. The alarm was coming from the third floor where Family Court was being held at the time. Workers were sent to the town square as officers and fire fighters checked the building. It was later determined that a fire alarm had been pulled by an unknown person. Once the all clear was given workers returned to their offices and court resumed. The matter was considered a false alarm and no further investigation has been launched. For
