  Man airlifted after car fire web posted May 28, 2007 EDGEFIELD – A report of a car fire on the Bypass in Edgefield Friday night sent Edgefield Firefighters and EMS rushing to the scene and resulted in one man being airlifted to the Burn Center at Doctor’s Hospital in Augusta. According to reports from the scene the man and his mother ran out of gas around 10 pm Friday night and walked to a nearby gas station to get gas. While the man was fueling the car the gas can somehow ignited into flames. The man suffered burns to the left side of his head and was believed to have inhaled flames when the fire erupted. EMS personnel stabilized the man before being flown to the Burn Center by helicopter. His condition is unavailable. The fire destroyed the car. For
