Suspected Hunting Cabin Burglar Arrested

web posted May 29, 2014

EDGEFIELD An arrest has been made in a case involving break-ins and burglaries into hunting cabins and out buildings on Mayson Drive last October. Adam Bradley Mayson, 29, of Easley, is currently being held on a total of $43,276 in bonds. He was booked into custody on Monday at the Edgefield County Detention Center. The two most serious charges, burglary in the first degree and burglary in the second degree, account for $40,000 of his bonds.

At least two of the five hunting cabins on the property had been forcefully entered as well as some of the sheds around the cabins. An ATV stored in one shed had been moved and the ignition switch had been torn apart. Most of the property stolen was of little value, although a .22 caliber rifle was stolen and was even fired inside one of the cabins resulting in the burglary in the first degree charge.

It also appeared that someone had spent the night in one of the cabins.

At first it was believed that juveniles may have been involved, but as the investigation continued, warrants were sworn out for Mayson's arrest.
