ERA Sponsors Shopping Extravaganza

web posted June 4, 2009
EDGEFIELD – ERA Sponsors of the upcoming Shopping Extravaganza says "Y’all come!"  On Friday, June 11 and Saturday, June 12, from 10 AM to 6 PM, Edgefield Regional Arts will sponsor a 50% off sale of beautiful clothing, shoes and accessories by famed Southern in-home shopping designer, Doncasterr.

Doncasster Wardrobe Consultants Sharon Nunamaker and Nancy Gilliam and District Sales Leader for South Carolina and Coastal Georgia, Beth Worth, will transform The Rocky Shop on Main St. into a designer warehouse of tempting sample items from the elegant and stylish Doncaster collection. The ERA sale will offer designs in a range of sizes from seasons past, at steep and affordable discounts. The sale will benefit the Edgefield Regional Arts Theatre Project, an ongoing effort to bring theatre to our community and our region.

The Doncaster business evolved, in the mid 1930s, from an original company that made men’s shirts and shirt collars into a designer of fashionable women’s shirtwaist dresses.   Today, its New York team of designers produces four distinctive and coordinated collections per year that are sold both through its in-home representatives and at retail outlets across the South.  One of these studios, open fulltime, is in Beth Worth’s territory, in the Vista in Columbia.  It is through her efforts in particular that the rare opportunity has been afforded the fairer sex of Edgefield and surrounding counties to purchase classic Doncaster pieces at bargain prices and to help a forward-looking community cause at the same time.

Early in 2009, Edgefield Regional Arts obtained an option to purchase the former Edgefield Advertiser building on Courthouse Square.  That option ran out at the beginning of May.  Undaunted, however, ERA has pledged to bring live theatre to the area on an ongoing basis, in the hope that future efforts and a revived economy may foster the development of a theatrical home on or near the square.   Watch for ERA’s soon-to-be-announced theatrical debut.

Edgefield Regional Arts (ERA) is an association of more than 50 artists and writers in and around Edgefield, South Carolina, which sponsors art exhibits, literary events, and community activities for the benefit of its members and the public.  Any artist interested in joining ERA may contact Pamela Urban-Moore at 803-637-6763.
