Suspicious Vehicle Stop Yields Two Arrests

web posted June 19, 2014

EDGEFIELD Edgefield County Sheriff's deputies conducting a traffic stop of a suspicious vehicle early Wednesday found marijuana and paraphernalia inside, leading to the arrests of a pair of Edgefield County teenagers.

Deputies noticed a suspicious green Toyota Camry on Planer Driver just after 1 a.m. and conducted a traffic stop. After calling in Edgefield Police to assist, deputies checking the driver's license and vehicle registration smelled a "strong odor" of marijuana coming from inside he vehicle, according to a police report.

The vehicle's three occupants were asked to exit for a more thorough search, which yielded a plastic bag of marijuana on the ground beside the passenger door, a "bud" of marijuana in the backseat and a "roach" with marijuana in a cup ashtray. Arrested and charged with simple possession were Devante Tamar Adams, 19, of Edgefield, and Trevante Desmon Prince, 19, of McCormick.

The third man in the car was not charged.
