  Accused car thief in custody web posted June 28, 2008 EDGEFIELD – A man accused of stealing a car from the Edgefield Dialysis Center on Main Street June 4 is now in custody at the Edgefield County Detention Center. After working his way through charges of DUI and open container in Aiken County, Edgefield Police transported Isaac Sheffield Jr., 46, of Eastview Road back to Edgefield on Friday to face a felony theft charge for stealing the vehicle. Tips from citizens led to the alert and an Edgefield County Sheriff’s Officer spotted the stolen car driven by Sheffield on Highway 19 near the I-20 exchange and attempted to make a traffic stop. Reports at the time stated that Sheffield continued westbound on I-20 until North Augusta and additional units arrived and made the stop, taking Sheffield into custody. The car was returned to the owner unharmed and nothing was reported missing. Mr. Sheffield is being held on one count of grand larceny. ©
