Edgefield Cruise-In on the Square

web posted June 30, 2014

EDGEFIELD – On July 19th Edgefield will host the first annual Cruise In on the Square.  A Cruise In is a group of car enthusiasts gathering at a designated location to park and show off their cars, talk car talk, and visit with other car buffs; the common interest being classic vehicles, cars, trucks, or motorcycles.  This is a free event.

The Edgefield 2014 Cruise In on the Square is set for Saturday July 19th, 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. rain or shine.  People with classic cars, trucks or motorcycles are invited to park on the square and enjoy the atmosphere of dozens of car enthusiasts.  Spectators are invited but asked to park outside of the square area to make room for the Cruise In attendees. There will be a live broadcast from WKSX on the Square playing Oldies.  There will also be other food available around the square as well as at local restaurants.

Beth Padgett owner of The House Next Door gift and antique shop on Jeter Street right behind the Courthouse downtown is the creator of this new event for Edgefield.  Beth caught the car bug from her Daddy, Tiny Black of Trenton, who was a car enthusiast for many years. Beth has been a member of the Casual Corvette Club of the CSRA for over 14 years.

Major sponsors are The Town of Edgefield, The Edgefield Community Development Association, The National Wild Turkey Federation and local car companies: Jim Satcher Ford, Pendarvis Chevrolet, and Herlong Chevrolet, Buick and Ford.  Other business sponsors include Crouch Hardware, Ole Edgefield Butcher Shop, Carolina Moon Distillery, The Edgefield Trading Company, Bluegrass Material’s Edgefield Quarry, Carolina Machine Shop, Reel Insurance Agency and The Edgefield Advertiser.
