Edgefield Police release partial description of church service burglar
web
posted July 1, 2008
EDGEFIELD – Edgefield Police are searching
for a suspect in last week’s thefts from two local churches during
Sunday services. According to police reports someone entered the choir
room in one church and stole purses, credit cards, debit cards and
other items from members of the choir as they sang during the service.
Unknown at the time of the report, a short time later the same type of
theft happened just a couple blocks away at another church.
Chief Carter said they have been able to get a description of a black
female between the ages of 30 and 35 who was wearing dark pants or blue
jeans and a pink or purplish colored shirt and a white headband.
“That’s about all we know right now,” Chief Carter said.
The thefts took place on Sunday June 22 during the morning worship
serves at both churches.
Chief Carter said his officers were going over surveillance footage
taken by local businesses in an effort to find someone matching the
description being in the area during the hours of the crimes. “If we
find someone (matching the description), we may be able to identify
them.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the Edgefield Police
Department or the Sheriff’s Dispatch at 803-637-5337.
