Meg’s House Provides Domestic Violence 101 Training for Women in Unity

web posted July 2, 2014

EDGEFIELD – Meg’s House executive director, Alice Hodges provided training on June 29, 2014 to Women in Unity in an effort to respond to the needs of victims of domestic violence. Women in Unity CEO, Essie B. Nicolson asked Hodges to come and provide the training because there are women in Edgefield county who often contact members of Women in Unity for assistance.

Meg’s House is an emergency shelter that offers programs to help victims of domestic violence and Women in Unity is an after school learning and development center. Both agencies are 501 c (3) organizations that provide needed services in Edgefield county.

Because Meg’s House is located in Greenwood, SC victims often are hesitant to seek services. The goal is to have members of Women in Unity to hold support group and provide referrals to Meg’s House and help empower victims of domestic violence.

For more information call Women in Unity at 803-637-2010 or Meg’s House at 864-227-1890.
