Tow Truck Stolen Early Saturday Morning

web posted July 7, 2014

EDGEFIELD A rollback tow truck was stolen from the tow yard of Pendarvis Chevrolet early Saturday morning around 4:30 am. It was discovered missing when the driver went to get the wrecker in order to respond to a call around 9 am and the Sheriff's Office was notified. The lock to the gate was missing and there was no damage to the fencing, according to information provided.

The wrecker (pictured above) is a white 2008 Chevrolet 5500 and has Pendarvis Chevrolet, address and phone number on the doors. The tow bed is silver in color and is operated by controls located below the bed just behind the cab on both sides of the truck. No tag number was available.

According to information, surveillance video shows a car drive up to the gate around 4:30 am and remains there for over 15 minutes before leaving. A short time later the wrecker is seen pulling out of the gate.

The tow yard is located at the corner of Bausket Street (Hwy 25 Bypass) and Gary Hill Road, just behind Pendavis Chevrolet. Anyone that may have seen the wrecker or may have information is asked to call the Edgefield County Sheriff's Office at 803-637-5337.

No incident report was available at this time.
