Family returns from vacation to find home burglarized

web posted July 10, 2009
EDGEFIELD – An Edgefield family returning from vacation early Wednesday morning discovered their Catalpa Street home had been burglarized while they were gone. According to police reports, the person or persons who burglarized the home not only stole an assortment of valuables, but took time to eat leftovers, ice cream, drank Kool-Aid, and were nice enough to place used utensils in the sink.

The back door frame showed forced entry and a window air conditioner had been “kicked out of the window”, reports state. Other areas inside the home were also damaged by the intruders.

The items immediately known to be stolen included an Xbox 360 gamming system, assorted games, a Playstation 2 and games, a pair of Nike Air Jordon men’s tennis shoes (black over white), a gold Bolva watch, several gold necklaces, a man’s diamond ring, a 2008-2009 W. E. Parker yearbook, and two pagers.

Edgefield Police were able to gather fingerprint evidence at the scene and took several items into custody for processing for further evidence, reports state.

The case is currently under investigation along with two or three other burglaries that have taken place in the general area recently.
