Flat tire leads to boat theft

Edgefielddaily.com
web posted July  15, 2005

EDGEFIELD - Kevin Berry, of Edgefield, was towing his 17 foot Polar Kraft boat back to Edgefield Wednesday around 7 pm when he had a flat on the trailer. Not having a spare with him the boat and trailer was left on the side of Highway 23 as the owner went to his house to retrieve a spare. When he returned the boat was missing.

According to police reports the boat is a 1986 Polar Kraft 17 foot aluminum boat with a 50 horse Johnson outboard motor carried on a single axle grey trailer. Deputy George Dedmondt responded to the call and the missing boat has been placed on the NCIC list for all agencies to be on the look out for its whereabouts.

The value of the boat was listed as $8,500 and the trailer was listed as valued at $1,500. Anyone with information is asked to call the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office at 803-637-5337 or 803-278-1625. Callers need not identify themselves to report information.
