More guns reported stolen this week

web posted July 16, 2008
EDGEFIELD – An Edgefield business owner made a simple trip to the Bi-Lo in Carolina Square Monday evening to pick up a few items and after leaving the parking lot discovered that a bank bag and pistol were missing from his truck and called the Sheriff’s Office.

According to incident reports the man informed the deputy that he parked his truck in a handicapped parking space in front of the store a shopped for a few minutes. When he arrived back at his place of business he discovered the bank bag, containing approximately $400 in checks and cash, missing. A further search of the truck found a black .32 caliber pistol also missing.

Video surveillance from the security cameras was not immediately available.

The case is currently under investigation and adds to the number of firearms that have been stolen this year from vehicles and homes.

A Casalina Drive resident called the Sheriff’s Office to report a .22 caliber rifle stolen on Monday as well.

This is the third weapon stolen this week alone. As EdgefieldDaily.com reported on Tuesday, a .357 caliber pistol was stolen over the weekend from a Stevens Creek Drive home in Merriwether.
