Dodge’s Store has clumsy burglar Edgefielddaily.com web posted July 22, 2005 EDGEFIELD - Wednesday night Dodge’s Store on the Edgefield Highway had a masked black male enter the store and attempt to snatch two cases of Bud Light from a display and run out the door. Unfortunately for the burglar the cardboard handles were not as strong as he thought. One case he was not able to steal when the handle broke off in his hand and the one he did manage to take from the store broke apart in the parking lot as he ran off. Employees said the man was only able to make off with, “about eight or ten beers.” One employee said, "If he was that hard up for a beer I would have bought him a twelve pack, he didn't need to steal it." Edgefield County Deputies took one of the cans as evidence. They also were able to retrieve three sets of prints off the cardboard handle that broke off from the case of beer during the robbery one employee said. Reports of the incident or description of the masked man were not available at the time of posting by the Sheriff's Department.
