Ferrell Arrested at County Admin Building

web posted July 26, 2012

EDGEFIELD – Local Pottery expert Stephen Ferrell has been arrested yet again, this time after returning to the Edgefield County Administration Building and Archives after being placed on a trespass notice due to complaints. On Wednesday afternoon Ferrell decided to enter the building again telling County Administrator Lynn Strom that she did not have to worry because all the criminal charges leveled against him had been dropped.

Ferrell is currently facing charges of DUI and leaving the scene of an accident in an April hit and run on Main Street. He was arrested a short time later at his home. The case has been transferred to General Sessions court but no trial date is available.

Ferrell was found guilty for a disorderly conduct charge he received the week prior to the hit and run incident and was sentenced to time served following the felony hit and run arrest.

Several businesses around town have also placed Ferrell on trespass notice not to return to their establishments because of his behavior.

One local business manager stated recently that Ferrell entered the establishment and stated he was the new owner because he just "bought Bettis (Rainsford) out". The manager informed Ferrell that Mr. Rainsford did not own the business and instructed him to visit a building owned by Mr. Rainsford.

According to the Edgefield County Detention Center, Ferrell was booked on a single charge of trespassing after notice and is awaiting a bond hearing on Thursday morning. This marks the third time he has been arrested since April.

A request for a booking photo from the Detention Center once again was not honored and a file photo was used for this report.
