Massey makes it official web posted July 28, 2007 Mr. Massey spent time on the sidewalk of the Edgefield Town Square meeting with residents and then ventured inside the Ten Governor’s Café to meet with diners. Afterwards he met with Mr. McFarland and filled out his paperwork to file as a Republican. Campaign literature Mr. Massey presented to voters stated he is running to “Shake up Columbia”. Massey says he has three ways to do just that, restore accountability by cutting spending, restructuring and cleaning up state government, defending family values, and strengthen our economy by “slashing taxes”, concentrating on education, fighting illegal immigration, and creating jobs. State Rep. Bill Clyburn has said he intends to file as a Democrat and North Augusta’s Bill Hixon has expressed an interest in running as a republican. The primary election will be held September 18, 2007. The deadline for filing closes August 6. For
