EDGEFIELD – The
Friday night drive-in
movie “Grease” on the Edgefield Town Square seemed to be a
well-received event with hundreds attending the movie. Edgefield Mayor
Ken Durham said, “I was very pleased with the turnout.” Mayor Durham
gave an estimate on the crowd at nearly 300 people. The production was
sponsored by the Edgefield Community Development Association.
Before the movie there were several activities for residents to
participate in from dressing as their favorite Grease character, face
painting, and a bubble-gum bubble-blowing contest.
The movie was shown on the wall of the Wachovia Bank on the South end
of the square.
“I think it went really well,” Mayor Durham said adding that he was
looking forward to the next production that will be coming in August.
The Town of Edgefield paid the copyright fees of $250 to help sponsor
the movie.
The next movie, a Dr. Seuss production, will be shown on August 15. The
public is invited to attend the free movie.
