Third Burglary Suspect Ruled Out

web posted August 1, 2014

EDGEFIELD Edgefield County Sheriff's Chief Investigator Randy Doran said Thursday that they have ruled out the possibility of a third suspect in the burglary that were interrupted by a deputy on routine patrol Monday night. At first, the two suspects captured following an all-night search claimed there was another man with them and he was the one behind the burglary and other thefts. "It was just the two of them," Inv. Doran said.

Investigators became suspicious of the claim of a third person being involved when a truck stolen from Stonehenge Circle, believed to be used by the third suspect to escape back to Lexington, was found nearby on Slade Road on Wednesday.

"They left the truck there and planned to come back and get it before they left," Inv. Doran said. They never got the chance after a deputy spotted the pair trying to steal an enclosed trailer from a home on Columbia Road around 2:30 am, leading to the high speed chase and then a manhunt.

Doran said the plan was to take the Edgefield man's truck back to Lexington and then dump the other stolen truck they were driving to commit their crimes. That truck was stolen from Lexington in March of this year (left).

Formal charges were filed on the pair on Thursday.

Steven Dubose, 30, of Lexington, has been charged with driving under suspension third offense or higher, fail to stop for blue lights and siren, burglary in the first degree, grand larceny, larceny, possession of burglary tools and receiving stolen goods - value $2,000 or more but less than $10,000.

Jennifer Lostritto, 32, of New Jersey, has been charged with burglary in the first degree, grand larceny, larceny, possession of burglary tools and receiving stolen goods - value $2,000 or more but less than $10,000.

Both are being held without bond pending a bond hearing in Circuit Court.
