$18,000 Worth of Cows Reported Stolen

web posted August 6, 2014

EDGEFIELD A Long Cane Road man called the Edgefield County Sheriff's Office after discovering several of his cows missing from his pasture. After counting the cows he checked his fencing and there were no openings found, leading him to report them stolen.

The man told the responding deputy that he last counted his herd about two weeks ago, totaling 92 cows. After noticing there seemed to be fewer cow, he counted them again and could account for only 74, leaving 18 cows missing.

According to an incident report released on Tuesday, the cows are valued at $1,000 a piece for a total of $18,000. The theft is currently under investigation.
