Man Wanted for Drug Possession Arrested at Probation Office With Drugs

web posted August 8, 2014

EDGEFIELD The old saying that some people just never learn can be aptly applied to Adrian Jamaal Martin, 26, of Johnston, who was arrested at the Probation Office in Edgefield for an outstanding Magistrate Court bench warrant for failure to comply with an April sentence for simple possession of marijuana from a February arrest. When the arresting officer searched Martin, marijuana was found in his pants pocket.

Martin was at the Probation Office for one of his several convictions for drug possession or distribution near a school or park. He is currently being held at the Edgefield County Detention Center on a $1,000 bond for simple possession of marijuana 2nd offense from the current arrest.

The bench warrant for failure to comply comes from a guilty plea entered on April 10 where he was ordered to pay $620 or spend 30 days in jail. Martin did not comply with the order.

According Edgefield County online court records, Martin plead guilty to manufacture / distribution / possession of drugs with intent to distribute near a school or park on March 20 of 2005. He was given 2 years with credit for time served. On December 3, 2008 Martin was arrested again on similar charges and was sentenced to 42 months, with credit for time served.

He was arrested again on April 30 of 2012 for possession of cocaine 2nd offense and plead guilty the following October and was sentenced to 2 years, suspended for 4 days times served and 2 years probation.

A court date for his most recent arrest was not available.
