Edgefield Girl Reports Being Raped by Two Men

web posted August 12, 2014

EDGEFIELD   Edgefield Police are investigating the alleged rape of an Edgefield girl at an apartment where underage drinking was taking place sometime in March. The girl, whose age will only be stated at under 15 to protect her identity, reported being at the apartment with others and they were drinking vodka. At one point the girl was approached in the hallway by two males and taken into a bedroom where the attacks are said to have taken place.

The girl was able to provide a nickname of one of the subjects, the other was only described as an unknown black male. According to the information obtained, the black male was the first to force the girl to have sex and then left the room and the white male entered and also is said to have raped the girl.

The white male, who she knew only by a nickname, rejected her asking if she could leave or if she, "had to do this", by saying, "No, but I want you to". She reported that she would tell the man no several times and asking him to stop only to be told to "be quiet".

The report never provided a description of either of the two men.

The girl's sister was also said to be at the apartment and was taken into a bathroom during the time the girl was being attacked. There was no further information on the sister or her age.

The report, which was filed in mid July, has been withheld from publication until it was cleared by the Edgefield  Police Department so not to impede their investigation. Edgefield Police Chief Ronnie Carter said the case is still under active investigation but there have been no arrests at this time. He would not say if they had identified the two suspects.

According to the July 18 report, the girl told the officer that she informed her mother about the attacks at least a month before telling her story to police, but asked her mother not to say anything. Police had no information about the crime until the girl broke her silence and told a medical provider who contacted Edgefield police.

Edgefield Daily will continue to follow this case and release more information as the investigation progresses. Additional information previously released in the case is still being withheld from publication to protect the victim and the investigation.
