Burglary Suspect Returned to Edgefield County to Face Charges

web posted August 14, 2014

EDGEFIELD   One of two burglary suspects that led Edgefield County Sheriff's Deputies on a high speed chase through three counties in November of 2013 has been returned to Edgefield County on Tuesday to face felony charges. Daniel Mitchell Campbell, 27, fought extradition from Georgia after serving a prison sentence there after his arrest.

Campbell is charged with burglary in the second degree and grand larceny for his part in a November 19 burglary in which a Woodlawn Road woman called 911 after seeing two strange men at the back of her house, with one of them trying to get inside the home until the family dog started barking. The woman stayed on the phone with dispatchers providing them with information as deputies raced to the scene.

Just as the first deputy was approaching the home, Campbell and his partner Jason Pinion of Warrenville, fled the home pulling a utility trailer with property - all of which they stole from the home.

The chase continued to the end of Woodlawn Road to the intersection of Highway 28 in McCormick County. From there the chase continued towards Columbia County where Edgefield County Deputies, a Georgia State Trooper and Columbia County Deputies were able to bring the chase to an end and take both men into custody.

Campbell was given a bond hearing on Wednesday for charges of burglary in the second degree and grand larceny and is being held on a total of $20,000 in bonds.

There was no available information on Campbell's partner, Jason Pinion (Left), who was found to be a convicted felon in possession of a weapon during the commission of the crimes at the time of his arrest. Both suspects faced charges in Georgia and have been held there since the arrests.
