Edgefield Home Destroyed by Fire

web posted August 15, 2014

EDGEFIELD   Edgefield and Trenton Fire Departments were called to a structure fire Thursday afternoon around 4:30 stating the Bush Lane home was engulfed in flames. The woman inside the home when the fire began was able to get out and remain on the phone with 911 dispatchers as fire crews were responding.

When a deputy arrived on the scene he reported a "working structure fire" and aided fire crews as they began arriving.

The fire was mainly in the attic of the home, though other portions of the home were damaged. Firefighters took two hours to extinguish the blaze before being able to clear the scene.

An EMS unit was called to the scene to treat a resident of the home and a firefighter for an unknown issue.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation but is believed to be electrical in nature.

The home suffered major fire damage in addition to water and smoke damage and is uninhabitable, leaving the family displaced. We were unable to confirm the Red Cross  had been notified to provide aid to the family at this writing.
