Edgefield man shot Saturday night
web
posted August 16, 2009
EDGEFIELD – A late night shooting has left
one man injured and police searching for two suspects. The shooting
took place just before 11 pm at the Edgewood Apartments on W. A. Reel
Drive in Edgefield. One man was confirmed being shot and was being
treated at the Edgefield County Hospital after being taken to the
Emergency Room by friends. Though details are sketchy at this time, the
two men are said to have approached the victim from behind when the
shooting took place.
Edgefield Police arrived on the scene along with Sheriff’s Deputies
shortly after the report. Johnston Police and the South Carolina
Highway Patrol also responded to help set up a perimeter in an effort
to find the two men fleeing the scene on foot. The Edgefield County
Sheriff’s Bloodhound Team was also responding to the scene.
The two suspects were described only as black males, one having
dreadlocks wearing a white T-shirt weighing approximately 250 pounds
and the second suspect was only described as wearing a white T-shirt.
Both men were said to be carrying backpacks.
The scene of the shooting was roped off as investigators began
collecting evidence and preserving footprints and a possible scent
trail for the bloodhounds to track.
There were no updates on the victim’s condition or where he was stuck
during the shooting. It was unknown if he was continuing to be treated
at the Edgefield County Hospital or if he was transported to MCG in
Augusta.
A shooting
Thursday in Johnston also identified the suspects as being
black males wearing white T-shirts. Police are not making any
connections between the two shootings.
